The police produced the two at the court at 11 a.m. on Wednesday as their police custody expired on Wednesday.

The Pathanamthitta court on June 22 had sent Saritha to police custody till June 26 in connection with a cheating case registered at Konni. The Ambalappuzha JFMC on June 20 had sent Radhakrishnan to police custody till June 26.

The case in the Ambalappuzha court was registered by the Ambalappuzha police based on a complaint filed by Narayanan Namboothiri of Plakkudi Illam, Ambalappuzha, that he had been cheated of Rs.74 lakh by Saritha and Biju by forming a family consortium to set up a solar plant in Tirunelveli.

ADGP (South Zone) A. Hemachandran, who heads a special team investigating the scam, had questioned Saritha and Biju at Ambalappuzha on Saturday.

The couple is learnt to have confessed to the investigation team, led by Chengannur Dy.SP B.Prasannan Nair, that they had cheated Mr. Narayanan.

Staff Reporter writes from Pathanamthitta: The Judicial First Class Magistrate’s Court-II here on Wednesday remanded Saritha in judicial custody for 14 days in connection with a cheating case registered against her at the Konni police station.

The Konni police had registered a case against her on the basis of a complaint filed by an industrialist, Sreedharan Nair of Mallelil Industries, in Konni.

The complainant alleged that the accused had cheated him of Rs.40 lakh, promising to set up a solar project worth Rs.80 crore at his factory at the Kinfra Park in Palakkad at Rs.5 crore by providing subsidy from the Union and State governments.

He alleged that Saritha had approached him introducing herself as Lakshmi Nair, claiming close links with the Chief Minister’s office. The complainant claimed she had even taken him to the Chief Minister’s office at the Secretariat.

The police said both Biju and Saritha would be produced before the Pathanamthitta court on Thursday in connection with another cheating case filed against them by a Non-Resident Keralite, Baburaj, at the Aranmula police station.
