Singer Manjusha Mohandas, who had suffered injuries in a motor vehicle accident last week, died here on Thursday.

The 26-year-old, a PG student at the Sanskrit University in Kalady, was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kochi. The accident took place on July 27 at Thannipuzha when a truck laden with toddy barrels rammed a two-wheeler on which Manjusha and her friend Anju were heading towards the university. The vehicle had hit a cycle before hitting the women on the scooter.

Both the women were rushed to a private hospital at Angamaly by passers-by. Manjusha, who had sustained brain haemorrhage and fractures on her facial bones, was later referred to another hospital in Kochi.

The police have registered a case under IPC 304-A (causing death by negligence).

Ms. Anju, who also sustained injuries in the accident, is recuperating in a private hospital and her condition is stable.

Manjusha is survived by her husband Priyadarshan and a daughter.
