The flyover near the Assembly complex where traffic remained jammed from morning to afternoon on Tuesday.

Cordoning off the flyover behind the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium for the shooting of Mohanlal-starrer ‘Lucifer’ during daytime led to extended traffic blocks in the busy Palayam area on Tuesday.

People heading from General Hospital and Asan Square towards PMG and Pattom found it tough to manoeuvre the traffic, as both ends of the flyover were blocked since morning. Vehicles were rerouted via the Martyrs’ square.

The stretch from MLA quarters to the Martyrs’ square is narrow, and motorists had a harrowing time, as the shoot continued for long.

In addition to the traffic blocks, large crowds thronged the shooting location with the police finding it difficult to control the gathering.

The road was blocked from around 8 a.m., putting students and office-goers, including those to the University of Kerala, to much hardship.

The MLA Quarters complex is located by the side of the road.

Official response

Aadhithya R., Deputy Commissioner of Police, Law and Order and Traffic, however, denied any major blocks in the area, saying traffic was diverted through the war memorial road.

He said permission was given for the shoot by the ACP, Traffic, as no marches or dharnas were scheduled for the day in the area.

Another traffic block

The Medical College and Ulloor areas areas too witnessed traffic snags owing to the medical spot admissions. The blocks extended as far as up to Sreekaryam.

With as many as 550 seats on offer during the two-day mop-up allotment, aspirants from across the State had reached the city, with many opting to travel in their own vehicles.
