Selvaraj met Chandy before resignation: VS

Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan has said that he has information that R. Selvaraj, the Neyyattinkara MLA who resigned on Friday, had met Chief Minister Oommen Chandy along with a UDF member at 5 a.m. on Friday before putting in his papers.

Talking to presspersons here, Mr. Achuthanandan said the resignation was unexpected, but it could be a part of a ploy to stop a possible defeat for the UDF in the forthcoming Piravom bypoll and one for which huge sums of money was spent. This was the information that he got from Thiruvananthapuram, he said.

On queries that Mr. Selvaraj was known as his supporter, Mr. Achuthanandan said there were many people who did several things for their own existence. Their real colours would come out in such testing times, he added.
