Seer held on charge of sexual assault of boys

A seer arrested for sexually assaulting boys at Brahmanandalayam Ashramam, Kottanellur, has been remanded in judicial custody.

Swami Narayana Dharmavrathan, alias Thamarakshan, 52, of Peruvanthanam, was arrested from Chennai two days ago for sexually assaulting seven boys in the Sivagiri Brahmanandalayam Ashramam, Kottanellur. He was the secretary of the Ashramam.

Thamarakshan, who absconded after the incident came into light, was arrested by the police from Chennai. He used to punish boys who complained against him. The incident came to light when children contacted Childline from the mobile phone of a worker in the Ashramam.
