Vedant Prakash Shenoy who came second in engineering in KEAM may not join engineering colleges in Kerala. He has already cleared JEE (Advanced) with 763rd rank and would like to opt for mechanical engineering at IIT, Bombay.

Son of B. Prakash Kumar, professor at School of Bio Sciences at Mahatma Gandhi University, and Sheeba Ravi, Sainik Welfare Officer, Kottayam, he was a student of Kuriakose Elias (KE) School, Mannanam, which got 13 among the top 100 ranks, including the ninth rank-holder Nandagopan.

Vedant said he did not follow any strict pattern in studies. “When I felt I was weak in certain areas, I would focus on that portion until I felt satisfied,” he said.

As an academic his father had guided him, but never imposed his will, said Vedant. “He never insisted that I should follow his footsteps into biosciences,” he said.
