Defence Minister A. K. Antony today said the long-awaited wage revision for journalists and non-journalists based on the recommendations of the Majithia Wage Board proposals would become a reality without delay.

“I have no doubt that the wage board (recommendations) will become a reality”, he told the convocation of the Institute of Journalism of Trivandrum Press Club this evening.

Mr. Antony said he was happy that he had come to the Press Club after the Cabinet gave its approval to the recommendations.

“The first hurdle has been passed. Subsequent steps would also be taken. I have no doubt about that”, Mr. Antony said.

The issue of notification on the Majithia wage board, which was cleared by the Union Cabinet on October 25, was brought to Antony’s notice by office bearers of the Press Club.
