Sakthan Thampuran bus stand to get a facelift

After long-pending demands and complaints, the Thrissur Corporation has given its nod for the renovation of Sakthan Thampuran bus stand.

According to Mayor Rajan Pallan, the work will start on September 14.

The renovation work that will be done at a cost of Rs.7 crore will be completed in three phases, he said.

Meeting today

A meeting of bus owners, workers, and police will be held at the Mayor’s chamber on Thursday to discuss how to make alternative arrangements during the work period, Mr. Pallan said.

More than 1,200 buses conduct services form Sakthan Thampuran bus stand every day. Thousands of passengers use the bus stand.

The Thrissur Corporation in association with the State Bank of Travancore will set up modern seats at the bus stand, the Mayor said.
