Good days seem to be in store for innovators in rural areas with the Kerala Start-up Mission (KSUM) reaching out to them through a dedicated programme by the end of this year.
The KSUM has already submitted a project plan for creating rural innovation spaces to the government and is awaiting funds.
“There are several individual innovators in rural areas and many of them have very good products. We aim to build an ecosystem whereby their products can be turned scaleable since there is no end-to-end support mechanism at present,” Saji Gopinath, CEO, KSUM, told The Hindu .
The proposed rural innovation spaces will be a platform where individual innovators can exhibit their products, many of which would be in prototype stage. The KSUM will help link up them with accelerators who, in turn, will help them develop the prototype into saleable products. The project is likely to be rolled out in two or three months.
