The District Library Council (DLC) will conduct a reading contest for women with the objective of encouraging reading habit.
A press release issued by the DLC here on Wednesday said the contest was planned to ensure participation of three-lakh women covering 60,000 households in the district.
Open questions would be distributed to women in 50 to 100 households under a local library, it said.
The questions would be based on general knowledge as also on selected books.
Interaction programmes among participating women in the households under each library would be held from January 20 to 30.
The release said that a regional-level meeting of women participants selected from each library would be held on February 14 and a district-level gathering on February 22.
The district-level meeting would include campaign against superstitious beliefs. School-level reading competitions would also be conducted along with this, the release said.
