A range of pedigree dogs belonging to various breeds will be part of Kollam Dog Show 2019, to be held on October 13 at Bishop Jerome Institute ground.
Shyam Mehta from Delhi and Ranjith S Munjal from Kanpur will judge the show being organised by Kollam Kennel Club, a pressnote issued here today said.
Some popular breeds to take part in the show include Japanese Akitha, Fila Brasilia, Belgian Malinois, Chow Chow, Great Danes, Siberian Husky, Chihuahua, St Bernard, Staffordshire Terrier, Neapolitan Mastiff, Tibetan Mastiff, For Terrier, Shih Tzu, Miniature Pincers and Beagle.
Kollam Mayor V.Rajendrababu will inaugurate the show at 11 a.m.
“Indigenous breeds like the Rajapalayam Hound, Kanni, Chippipara, Caravan Hound and Mudhol Hound will also be judged at the show.
A competition for junior handlers will be held at 4 p.m.,” said the organisers at a press meet.
Dog squad
The event will also showcase the dog squad of Kollam police in another segment in the evening.
It will show how the sniffers and trackers who are part of the dog squad assist the department in crime scenes and in detecting explosives and drugs.
