: Eight students of MES Kalladi College at Mannarkad, near here, were suspended on Monday citing their alleged involvement in the ragging of a parallel college student who had appeared for university examination at the college on Thursday. A three-member commission was formed to investigate the incident, a release issued by the college said. Three of the students have been arrested. The rest are at large.

The police said the student was attacked when he was on the way home after taking the examination. He was identified as V. Vishnu, 19, a first-year B.com. student of the Mannarkad Co-operative College.

The students who were suspended are Sanjith Shan, Ashraf Ali, Habeeb, Shibil, Muhammed Yasser, Muhammaed Sammath, Ajmal Mubashir and Abdul Nahim. The police said a similar incident of ragging was reported in the college in February. Muhammed Muhsin of Ambalappara in Ottappalam was allegedly beaten up by senior students. This resulted in clashes between two groups of students of the college.
