Pocker Sahib Memorial Orphanage (PSMO) College, Tirurangadi, launched its Civil Services training programme in association with The Hindu Readers’ Forum on its campus on Tuesday.

Inaugurating the programme, District Collector Jaffer Malik called upon the students to take up big challenges such as the Civil Services.

Citing his own experience as an example, Mr. Malik said that one did not need to study in an established institution to crack the Civil Services examination. “You can crack it if you have the will and determination,” he said.

Mr. Malik handed over a copy of The Hindu newspaper to students of The Hindu Readers’ Forum. He also released a book, Indian and Kerala Economy , authored by Noushad Chengodan, coordinator of the Civil Services Academy.

Mr. Malik also felicitated Mohammed Sajad and Farash, the two young Civil Services winners from Malappuram district.

Presiding over the function, PSMO College Principal K. Azeez praised The Hindu for the consistent role it played in helping the students during their preparations for the Civil Services Examinations.

Mr. Sajad and Mr. Farash, during an interaction with the students, shared their experiences of cracking the Civil Services.

They spoke about the methods of study they adopted and the hurdles they faced during their preparations.

Staff Club secretary P.P. Shareefa Beegum, College Council secretary S. Shibinu and student representative C.P. Mustafa addressed the gathering.

Mr. Chengodan welcomed the gathering.

History faculty member Mohammed Haseeb proposed a vote of thanks.
