An action council of social activists and political party workers on Monday staged a torch-bearing protest in front of the District Police Chief’s office alleging that the police scuttled probe into a suspected case of sexual assault on a 19-year old girl.

The protesters also alleged that the Christian girl was lured into a fake love trap and the youth suspected in the incident forced her to embrace the Islam.

Parents of the 19-year old said they recently moved the Kerala High Court seeking a fair investigation into the incident. They claimed that the City police had ignored their complaint which they filed two months ago.

Conversion network

The girl’s father claimed that the youth was part of a religious conversion network. He also alleged that the youth had threatened her with putting her nude pictures on social media if she was not ready to cooperate with him. Her gold ornaments had been taken away too, he said.

According to the complainant, the youth allegedly lured the girl into a love trap while she was studying at a coaching centre in Kozhikode city. He had taken her to a tourism spot where she was sexually exploited, it said.

KCBC demand

On Monday, the Kerala Catholic Bishop Council (KCBC) also sought a high-level inquiry into the incident in which several girls were allegedly dragged into such conversion attempts. The council leaders claimed that the girl was lured into a love trap and later forced her for the suspicious conversion.

Meanwhile, police sources said the case was currently under the consideration of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the incident would be investigated along with similar other cases.
