Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will lay the foundation stone for the proposed government guest house, Punyadarshanam Complex, at the Sabarimala Sannidhanam on October 17.
Minister for Devaswom and Tourism Kadakampally Surendran told The Hindu that the Tourism Department would provide the funds for the proposed guest house.
The high-power committee for implementation of the Sabarimala Master Plan would execute the project, the Minister said.
Estimate of ₹499 lakh
G. Mahesh, chief architect of Pithavadian and Partners, the Chennai-based consultant of the Sabarimala Master Plan, has prepared the design of the Punyadarshanam Complex, which is estimated to cost ₹499 lakh.
The Minister said the work on the guest house, to be constructed near the Inspection Bungalow of the Forest Department, would begin in February 2018 so as to commission it before the Mandalam-Makaravilakku pilgrim season in November 2018. The Punyadarshanam Complex will have 24 furnished rooms, a conference hall with state-of-the-art facilities, dining hall, and a pilgrim facilitation centre.
Mr. Surendran said the guest house was for accommodating VVIPs and VIPS coming to Sabarimala.
