Pinarayi condoled death of Chandrappan

Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday condoled the death of Communist Party of India (CPI) State secretary C.K. Chandrappan.

Talking to reporters at the CPI(M) district committee office here on Thursday, Mr. Vijayan said that Mr. Chandrappan had always worked for the unity of the Left parties and for strengthening Leftist trade unions. A veteran Communist leader who had earned recognition at the national level, the deceased leader was also a role model for all Communist workers in the State, Mr. Vijayan said adding that the CPI leader had showed the will power of a Communist even when he was battling with his illness. Mr. Chandrappan had even participated in the Piravom by-election campaign. All the pubic functions of the CPI(M) in the State scheduled on March 23 were cancelled as a mark of respect for the deceased, the CPI(M) leader said.
