The Pedal Force Kochi (PFK), a Tripunithura-based organisation engaged in activities for promoting bike ride as an alternative transport system, will organise a bicycle trip here on August 4 as part of extending its campaign to all districts in the State.

The PFK has been in the forefront of activities for promoting bicycle ride and of a campaign for a separate bicycle track on highways since 2017.

Campaign

The organisation, which has so far confined its activities to Ernakulam district, is now extending its campaign to all districts, said Joby Raju, founder of the group. Kannur would be the first district to launch the bike ride popularisation campaign after Ernakulam, he said.

The organisation said here on Tuesday that the bike rides were being conducted in all districts in the coming days for wooing people above 18 years back to bicycles and to popularise bike ride as the present tendency among people to use cars and two-wheelers for all purposes of travel would be harmful.

The scheduled bike ride in Kannur was named Kannur Cyclothon 2019, he said. People above 15, including women, could participate in the event, he added.

The participants would be given a free T-shirt and certificate of participation. Fifty participants to be selected on a first come, first served basis would participate in the event.

They could register their names online on www.pedalforce.org . For details, contact: 9847533898.
