District panchayat president Annapoornadevi has said that she had rejected the organising committee chairperson post of the controversial ‘women’s wall’, as she was appointed to the post without her knowledge or consent.

Talking to reporters here on Friday, Ms. Annapoornadevi alleged that the women’s wall was aimed at fulfilling certain political agenda of the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)].

The very motive of the protest was to convert the people as atheists, destroying their religious custom, tradition, and practices, she alleged.

Though the Chief Minister had stated that the government was not spending a single paise for organising the women’s wall, the conduct of the programme was through the government system, she said.

Anto Antony, MP, and Adoor Prakash, MLA, too decided not to accept their appointment as patrons of the organising committee of women’s wall.

Both of them alleged that they too were not consulted by anyone before making them the organising committee patrons.
