Pampa changes course in Sabari foothills

The flood that struck Kerala has changed even the course of the Pampa at Pampa-Triveni in the foothills of Sabarimala.

The new course of the Pampa is by the service road constructed along the Pampa Manalpuram.

Now, the pilgrims’ path near the Manalpuram has become the new river course. The huge Ramamurthy Mandapam on the Pampa Manalpuram, which used to accommodate around 4,000 pilgrims, was washed away. Sastha Buildings near the ‘nadappanthal’ has partially caved in. Information centres erected by media groups on the Manalpuram have been washed away. Cracks have developed on the walls of the police station building. A portion of the Triveni parking ground has slipped into the river. Pampa Hilltop, where pilgrims used to throng to worship the Makarajyothi, was struck by a landslip. A steel watch tower on the Manalpuram too was washed away.
