Palakkad, Alathur draw a blank

No nomination papers filed for LS election on the first day

None turned up to file their papers in the Palakkad and Alathur Lok Sabha constituencies on the first day of nomination on Thursday.

The nomination can be filed between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. before the District Collector here.

In the absence of the District Collector, who is the District Returning Officer, nominations in the Palakkad constituency can be

submitted to Survey Deputy Director R. Somanathan, who is the Assistant Returning Officer.

Candidates in the Alathur constituency can file their nomination before Deputy Collector (Land Recovery) M.P. Regil, who is assistant returning officer.

April 4 will be the last date to submit nominations. Scrutiny will take place on April 5. District Collector D. Balamurali said that the candidates coming to file their nomination should park their vehicles at least 100 metres away from the Returning Officer’s office.

Only five persons, including the candidate, will be allowed inside the Returning Officer’s office.
