: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president V.M. Sudheeran said here on Thursday that the Vigilance Court verdict in the bar bribery case against Finance Minister K.M Mani would not reflect in the local body elections.
“Let the people discuss about it and the United Democratic Front will take an appropriate and timely decision,'' he said adding that the UDF had won the Aruvikara by-election at a time when the issue was more in the spotlight.
Speaking at face-to-face programme “Leader - Stand' at Idukki Press Club on Thursday, he said that he did not know the details of the court order and would react after studying it. However, Mr Sudheeran could not give a clear reply to a question on whether Vigilance DGP Vinson M.Paul was correct or not in his report. Mr Sudheeran said the people of Kerala would receive the UDF on the basis of the slogan ‘Development and peace.’
He said the Communist Party of India(M) had fielded candidates with criminal background as there was none without that background.
If the party abandons criminals, there would
be no CPI (M), he added.
Mr. Sudheeran said that both political violence by the CPI (M) and the caste politics of Bharatiya Janata Party raised a threat to the country. It will be rejected by the voters, he said..
