On a mission to support start-ups

Getting a start-up off the block is far easier when compared to its long term sustainability.

Seeing many start-ups catapulting in the face of this reality, Piravom-based Technolodge, one of the few successful rural IT Parks in the State, has come to their aid.

Startup Support Mission launched by Technolodge on Saturday aims at canvassing work to prop up upcoming start-ups. Minister Anoop Jacob has inaugurated the mission, which will find presence in the portal of Technolodge as a separate link.

“The idea is to serve as a bridge between the client and the entrepreneur. Those seeking IT-related services can approach us and we get them connected to start-ups with the capabilities to deliver it,” said Ranjini Brite, CEO of Technolodge.

That digitalisation is making deep inroads in the State and even small companies are looking for an online identity panning across multiple platforms, including social media, is good news for start-ups provided there is a proper link between the potential clients and start-up entrepreneurs. Startup Support Mission tries to offer that link service.

Technolodge now has 38 companies, mostly start-ups, in fields as diverse as web development, animation and digital marketing. The Startup Support Mission has been conceived as a win-win situation for both the clients and service providers. Those in need of quality service now have a one-stop shop, while for the entrepreneurs, it provides a continuous flow of work. Technolodge will be part of all deals evolving as part of the mission. It will help draw up transparent agreements and even keep an eye on financial transactions.

Ms. Brite said there was considerable risk in lending the name of Technolodge to the support mechanism. “At stake is our reputation. For, we will also be responsible in ensuring that the work committed is delivered within the agreed time and matches the quality standards required by the client,” she said.

The top priority will be given to start-ups at Technolodge. The work will be given to entrepreneurs outside only if there are no players within Technolodge to meet the requirements of the client.
