Moving away from the characteristic demure approach they take while disapproving of actions by other organisations, the Nair Service Society (NSS) has taken a highly critical stance towards the Samathwa Munnetta Yatra undertaken by SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan.
In a scathing attack on the current leadership of the SNDP, the latest issue of NSS mouth piece ‘Service’ in its editorial said: ‘‘That the leadership had joined hands with certain organisations in the name of protecting Hindu interests, only to protect their sectarian vested interests, is against the philosophy of such a great movement. The SNDP Yogam is a great movement and is led by the philosophy and values of Sree Narayana Guru. It is only natural that the people bestow greatness and reverence to those at the top of the organisation.’’
Taking a dig at the various organisations that has come up in recent times in the name of Nair community, the editorial said the strength of NSS lay in its transparent style of functioning strictly adhering to the basic values expounded by its founding father. The editorial has come down on the hosting of the World Nair Conference, the celebration (instead of observing) of the Samadhi Day of Chattambiswamigal by organisations that has come up in the name of Nair community and also the efforts to use the social media to tarnish the NSS.
It said the NSS had the strength to work towards good of the community and society and fight for social justice independently, without leaning on anyone.
