‘No move for leadership change’

May 18, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:56 am IST - ALAPPUZHA:

Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president V.M. Sudheeran has reiterated that there is no move for a change in leadership in the United Democratic Front (UDF) government.

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of a function held here on Sunday, Mr. Sudheeran downplayed differences that had cropped up among Congress leaders. “Every member remained committed towards the policies of the party. There existed no issue within the Congress and UDF that could not be resolved through discussions. The upcoming local body polls will be taken as a challenge that will be overcome as a united force,” he said.

A brief meeting between Mr. Sudheeran and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala at the Alappuzha Guest House here sparked off rumours that discussions were being held regarding the recent spate of criticisms that were raised by senior Congress leaders against the functioning of the government and the factional differences that have emerged within the Congress.
