No action against Deepa Nishant

October 10, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:54 am IST - Thrissur:

The Cochin Devaswom Board has stated that there will not be any disciplinary action against Deepa Nishant, Assistant Professor at Sree Kerala Varma College, Thrissur, who posted a comment allegedly in connection with a beef festival held at the college recently.

In her explanation to the Cochin Devaswom Board, Ms. Nishant said her comments were misinterpreted by the people. She said her remarks on Facebook were about the freedom for choice of food in general in the backdrop of the lynching incident in Uttar Pradesh. Cochin Devaswom Board president M.P. Bhaskaran Nair said the teacher had not taken any biased stance in the clash at the college between SFI and ABVP activists after the beef festival. The Principal said that the comment on Facebook was not against college rules.

“Though the college canteen will not serve non-vegetarian food, there is no ban on bringing non-vegetarian food from home,” he said.

Teacher’s comment on Facebook not against college rules, says Principal.
