MYL march reaches Malappuram

A Yuvajana Yatra taken out by the Muslim Youth League (MYL), covering 600 km on foot from Manjeswaram to Thiruvananthapuram, reached the district on Wednesday to a rousing welcome.

MYL State president Syed Munawwarali Shihab Thangal is leading the yatra with the banner announcing a new India free of communalism and a new Kerala free of violence.

The march had started from Manjeswaram on November 24 and will conclude in Thiruvananthapuram on December 24. Muslim League supporters accorded warm receptions to the yatra at Kondotty, Kizhissery and Areekode on Wednesday. MYL leaders P.K. Firos, M.A. Samad and Najeeb Kanthapuram are accompanying Mr. Thangal.

Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) district president Syed Sadikali Shihab Thangal inaugurated the reception at Areekode. IUML national secretary P.K. Kunhalikutty, MP, organising secretary E.T. Mohammed Basheer, MP, treasurer P.V. Abdul Wahab, MP, State general secretary K.P.A. Majeed, Youth Congress leader Shafi Parambil, MLA, and trade union leader M. Rahmatulla addressed the gathering.

The yatra will resume from Manjeri on Thursday morning and will conclude at Malppuram town in the evening.

White Guard volunteers of the Youth League are heralding the yatra across the State.

Traffic restrictions

There will be traffic restrictions in Malappuram town on Thursday evening. Vehicles coming from Tirur, Manjeri, Perinthalmanna and Parappanangadi will be diverted.
