Noted musician Balabhaskar’s two-year old daughter was killed in an accident that took place near Pallippuram during the early hours of Tuesday as they were headed for the city.

The condition of Balabhaskar, who was admitted to a private hospital with multiple fractures, remained critical.

The incident took place at Thamarakulam by around 4 am when Balabhaskar along with his family were on their way from Thrissur reportedly after visiting a temple.

According to the Mangalapuram police, the driver is presumed to have dozed off, causing the car to veer off the road and ram into a tree. Balabhaskar’s daughter Tejaswini, who was unconscious, was first taken out from the mangled remains of the car by the police and local residents.

She was declared dead soon after being rushed to a private hospital by a highway patrol unit.

While Balabhaskar continued to be treated at the intensive care unit, his wife Lakshmi and driver Arjun were also hospitalised with fractures.
