The police have spread their net wide to nab the killer of three members of a family at Parambuzha, near Thiruvanchoor, on Saturday night.

Lalason, who runs a dry-cleaning centre at a shop adjacent to his house, his wife Prasanna Kumari, health inspector at General Hospital here, and their son Praveen Lal were found murdered on Sunday morning.

According to authorities, five teams are pursuing the leads and the prime suspect was a migrant labourer named Jai Singh. The police believe he is from Uttar Pradesh.

The migrant labourer had only recently joined the dry cleaning unit and the police are verifying his details.

One of the teams is following the mobile tower leads being provided by one of the stolen mobile phones.

However, according to sources, the police have not been able to zero in on any clear information about the person so far.

They believe the suspect might have already left the State but they are leaving no stone unturned and a through search of migrant labour camps is on.

Meanwhile, District Collector U.V. Jose convened a meeting and decided to introduce labour cards for migrant labourers.

He said registration of migrant labourers would be tightened. Those working in the construction sector would have to register with the district office of the Construction Labour Welfare Board and those in the other sectors and households with the office of the District Labour Officer.

Identity cards would be provided to registered labourers.

Action would be taken against those employing labourers without registration and identity cards. Mr. Jose said camps of migrant labourers would be inspected to ensure minimum facilities.
