Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said that more funds need to be allocated in the State budget for modernisation of the Fire and Rescue Services Department.
He was addressing the State conference of the Kerala Fire Services Association here on Friday.
“The Fire and Rescue Services Department should gear up to respond to new challenges. The number of incidents that demand the response of fire and rescue services personnel is on the rise. The units need state-of-the-art equipment and regular training programmes,” he said.
He stated that the State government would seek the support of the Centre in modernising the department.
