Says more than 67% of those who suffered crop loss in floods given damages

The 1,000 days of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government have laid the foundation for ‘Modern Kerala’, Agriculture Minister V.S. Sunil Kumar has said.

Elaborating on the district-level programmes here on Sunday in connection with the LDF government completing 1,000 days, he said the government had initiated a lot of development programmes and social welfare measures in the State.

Kole development package, Puthur zoological park construction, and sports complex were some of the projects, he said.

Central aid

More than 67% of those who suffered crop loss in the floods had been given compensation.

The rest would get it before March. Steps had been taken to secure the ₹6,000 declared for the farmers by the Centre, he added.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the the 1,000-day celebrations in the district on Monday.

Cultural procession

Various programmes organised by the district administration, Information and Public Relations Department, the district panchayat, city Corporation, and other departments will be held from February 20 to 27.

Education Minister C. Ravindranath will inaugurate the programme on February 20. Mr. Sunil Kumar will preside.

A cultural procession will be taken out in the afternoon.

An exhibition of paintings and products, seminars, and cultural programmes will be held in connection with the celebrations.
