Minister allegesencroachment byCPI(M) in Munnar

CPI(M) leaders and others have encroached upon government land to the extent of 10 acres at Econagar, Munnar, Minister for Revenue E. Chandrasekharan has said.

The government land encroached at Econagar was in the possession of Revenue, Home, Public Works, and Home departments and Kerala State Electricity Board, the Minister said in reply to a question in the Assembly on Thursday.

The Revenue Department had been able to free 130.17 hectares of encroached land in Udumbanchola and Devikulam taluks of Idukki district, the Minister said. At Pappathichola alone, 300 acres of encroached land had been freed. The survey report is yet to be finalised.

The anti-encroachment drive kicked off in Munnar had not been stopped and wass continuing, Mr. Chandreasekharan said in reply to another question.
