Kavitha Lankesh, film director and sister of the murdered journalist Gauri Lankesh, lashed out at the fascist forces trying to silence the voice of dissent in the country.
Inaugurating a seminar on ‘media practice in the times of intolerance’ organised as part of the 54th State conference of the Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) at Malayalam University, Tirur, on Wednesday, Ms. Lankesh said that her sister’s killers might have thought to silence her. “But her writings have been translated into many languages after her killing,” she said, adding that many more Gauris would arise for the fight against fascism.
Ms. Lankesh said that it was wild politics of intolerance that killed her sister. “And it is increasing day by day,” she said. According to her, activism and journalism had gone hand in hand for Gauri Lankesh.
KUWJ State secretary C. Narayanan, and others spoke.
