Man killed in accident

: A motorcylist was killed and the pillion rider injured when the two-wheeler hit a scooter at Chengala, near here, on Saturday.

The police identified the deceased as Muhammed Rafeeq, 38, a native of Kushalnagar in Karnataka’s Madikeri district. The mishap occurred around 9 a.m. Rafeeq was travelling along with his brother-in-law Sakkir when the bike hit a fish-vending scooter at Naalam Mile, the police said. Mr. Rafeeq runs an automobile shop at Chemmanad. Mr. Sakkir suffered multiple injuries. Rafeeq died on the way to the hospital. Sakkir is under treatment at the General Hospital here. — Staff Reporter
