LPG distribution charges revised and unified

: The delivery charges for LPG has been revised and unified in the district, according district collector Ajit Kumar. The new rates will be effective from January 15, a press note said. The decision was taken at the meeting of representatives of oil companies, gas agencies and consumer organisations chaired by the district Collector.

The current rates were fixed 15 years ago and it has been a two-layered system, in which the gas agencies charged Rs. 38 as delivery charges in Pala and other areas bordering high ranges on account of the character of the terrain, while in other places it was fixed at Rs. 18, for the distance between five and 12 kilometres. This had resulted in a lot of confusion and avoidable conflicts.

As per the new decision the delivery charges will be Rs.35 for distribution in a distance between five and 12 kilometres. The district Collector directed the gas agency representatives that manual billing should be carried out whenever online billing was not possible.

It has also been decided to implement a policy in which LPG will be delivered at their doorstep for senior citizens, patients and those who live alone. The oil company representatives will hold monthly sittings to redress complaints with regard to LPG in the district. The sittings to be held on every first Monday of every month, will beheld at the office of the District Supply Officer.

As per the new decision the delivery charges will be Rs.35 for distribution in a distance between 5 and 12 kilometres.
