Local bodies to document projects

: The local bodies in the state will document development projects implemented as part of the democratic decentralisation. The reports will be stored at the archives of the Kerala Institute of Local Administration Director P.P. Balan. Kerala stands in the top position in case of democratic decentralisation, which was initiated during 1995.

Projects implemented by the gram panchayats, municipalities and corporations in infrastructure, production and service sectors will be recorded. The total fund utilised during this period and the funds under various categories including women’s development, scheduled caste/Scheduled tribe development, road development, housing and drinking water, education projects will be recorded. People’s participation in gram sabhas and people’s participation in administration will also be noted. The report will be released in the form of a book.The deadline for the report is August 25 for which the local bodies can utilise Rs 2 lakh, the KILA director said.
