Lightning causes slight damage to Guruvayoor temple

The plaster fell off in the sanctum sanctorum of Sree Krishna Temple.

Anxious moments prevailed for some time at the famous Sree Krishna Temple here when a small quantity of plaster fell off in the sanctum sanctorum after it was struck by lightning, temple officials said.

According to preliminary assessment, there was no major damage to the structure.

The plaster particles fell off when the sanctum sanctorum was struck by lightning last night. The town had experienced heavy rains for about an hour.

The officials said steps would be taken to repair the damaged area.
