Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said the progress report of the government citing the Left Democratic Front’s (LDF) election promises would be presented soon.

Inaugurating the second anniversary celebrations of his government at a grand public function here on Friday, the Chief Minister listed the achievements of his government in various sectors over the past two years.

He stated that developmental stagnation and scepticism had prevailed in the State before his government came to power.

Many projects that had been deemed as non-implementable were now being executed. This had raised expectations about the State’s future, he said.

Least corrupt State

When his government came to power in 2016 the State was known as ‘corruption’s own land’, he said. It was now being recognised that Kerala was the least corrupt State in the country.

Noting that the LDF had promised comprehensive social justice-based and all-inclusive development of the State, the Chief Minister said the State could make major achievements in the agricultural, education and health sectors over the last two years.

A new agricultural culture which treated cultivation as a job had emerged now, he said.

The State was now closer to achieving self-sufficiency in vegetable and milk production, he added.

The LDF government had initiated steps for reviving defunct rivers and water sources and for waste treatment. “We are now planning to start centralised waste treatment plants in major urban centres,” he announced.

Stating that there was a resurgence in the public instruction sector in the wake of the public education protection campaign, Mr. Vijayan said the government was of the view that a makeover was necessary in the higher education sector.

The government could complete the first phase of the LIFE Mission launched for constructing houses for five lakh homeless families.

Ministers Kadannappally Ramachandran, K.K. Shylaja, E. Chandrasekharan, Mathew T. Thomas and A.K. Saseendran, MPs P.K. Sreemathy and P. Karunakaran, MLAs E.P. Jayarajan, C. Krishnan, T.V. Rajesh, and A.N. Shamseer were among those present at the programme.
