Left Democratic Front (LDF) leaders have accused the BJP and the United Democratic Front (UDF) of trying to foment trouble in the name of the Supreme Court verdict on entry of women in Sabarimala.

LDF convener A. Vijayaraghavan said in a statement here on Wednesday that the UDF and the BJP were conspiring to create trouble by blocking vehicles and the believers going to Sabarimala. This was aimed at converting Sabarimala into a battlefield. The BJP and the RSS were trying to undermine the Constitution, he said.

The CPI State council here on Wednesday said the violence at Nilackal that targeted mediapersons seemed to be pre-meditated. Even women journalists were not spared. This was part of a move to deprive the people from knowing the truth. The council demanded strong action against those behind the violent incidents.

CPI(M) State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan accused the Congress of abetting the Sangh Parivar bid to create trouble in the State. If the Congress and the BJP were opposed to implementing the verdict, they should clarify the reason for not filing a review petition on the verdict.
