October 06, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - KOLLAM:

Demanding the constitution of a Paramedical Council, the Medical Laboratory Owners Association (MLOA) will hold dharnas at all district headquarters in the State on October 7. At a press conference here on Monday, MLOA district president T.V. Joseph said that setting up of a paramedical council had been a longstanding demand of the association.

He said that there were almost 10,000 big and small private medical laboratories operating in the State providing employment to more than one lakh people, most of them women. But the State lacked rules that stipulated minimum standards and service conditions for these labs.
