The Kerala Private College Teachers’ Association (KPCTA) has demanded revocation of the newly constituted Boards of Studies of Kannur University, alleging that they were filled with ruling party loyalists.

A press release issued by the KPCTA regional committee here on Thursday said that the ‘list provided by the party office’ was sent to the Governor with the Vice Chancellor’s signature without holding any discussion.

Unprecedented

Terming the action unprecedented, the association said that the only agenda appeared to be exclusion of all non-Left teachers.

Previous boards had been set up by including people with academic excellence regardless of their political loyalties, the statement noted.

The university Syndicate dominated by Left loyalists included school teachers and those having no academic connection in the boards, it alleged.

The association also alleged that a former Left leader who had worked as a teacher on contract basis in the School of Legal Studies was included in the board by presenting him as an Assistant Professor.

The association also said that the authorities did not correct the mistake of nominating a Zoology Department teacher as chairman of the board of Studies of Home Science.
