Kollam gets new hockey stadium

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Thursday inaugurated the hockey stadium constructed at Asramam in the city for the National Games.

Mr. Chandy said steps would be taken to ensure that the sports and games infrastructure developed in seven districts in connection with the National Games would benefit sportspersons in the State after the games.

International standards

He said the hockey stadium here was constructed to international standards.

He called upon those concerned to properly maintain the stadium after the games.

The turf was formally inaugurated by Labour Minister Shibu Baby John.

He said the sports infrastructure constructed in the State in connection with the National Games would benefit the young generation.

The function was presided over by Sports Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan.

Mayor Honey Benjamin, MP N.K. Premachandran, and MLAs P.K. Gurudasan and A.A. Azeez were present at the function.
