Beginning next year, the State will have two embarkation points for Haj operations under the government supervision.

Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery and Calicut International Airport at Karipur will be the embarkation points for pilgrims from Kerala and Lakshadweep.

State Haj committee chairman C. Mohammed Faizi reached an agreement about the twin embarkation points with the Central Haj committee chief executive officer Maqsood Ahmed Khan at a meeting held in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Mr. Faizi said that Haj applicants of 2019 could mention either Kochi or Karipur as their embarkation choice. He said that pilgrims from Kerala would get the advantage of going first to Madina.
