Keralite dead, two of her kin missing in Delhi fire

They were part of a 13-member group who had gone to attend a wedding in Delhi on February 7.

A woman from Cheranalloor, near here, died and her mother and brother were missing in the fire that broke out in a hotel at Karol Bagh in Delhi in the early hours of Tuesday, according to information reaching here.

The deceased was identified as Jayasree, 53, of Maraparambu in ward 17 of Cheranalloor grama panchayat. Nalini, 85, and her son Vidyasagar, 58, were the ones missing, said the local councillor and distant relatives here.

All three were part of a 13-member group of relatives from five families who had gone to attend a wedding in Delhi on February 7.

“Somasekharan, Jayasree' brother who was also part of the group, informed the relatives here about her death and that his mother and brother are missing. He said that the remaining ten members of the group were safe,” local councillor Lissy Variyath told The Hindu .

She said that the marriage was over and the group had stayed back for sight-seeing before returning on February 17.

Jayasree, whose ancestral home is in Chernalloor, was staying at her husband's home at Chottanikkara. Chottanikkara Police said that her husband Unnikrishnan was abroad while their sons, Gauri Shankar, 23, and Hari Govind, 27, were part of the group that had gone to Delhi.
