Kerala gets third rank in ICSE exam

S. Meenakshi of Thiruvananthapuram has made Kerala proud by coming third at the national level in the ICSE examinations.

The results of Class XII (Indian School Certificate Examination - ISC) and Class X (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education Examination - ICSE) examinations conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) were declared on Monday.

While Meenakshi of Holy Angels’ ISC School, Thiruvananthapuram, topped the State merit list at the ICSE level, Parvathy S. Hari of St. Thomas Residential School, Thiruvananthapuram, came second, and Karthik C. Narayan of St. Thomas Residential School and Megha Niranjana Nair of L’Ecole Chempaka, Thiruvananthapuram, stood third.

In the ISC examinations, R. Gokul Prasad of Trinity Lyceum, Kollam, stood first in Kerala with an aggregate of 98.25 on the merit list that took into account the marks secured for English and three best subjects.

V. George Zachariah of Loyola School, Thiruvananthapuram, Nihal Shah Peediackal and Mrinal Shankar of St. Thomas Residential School, Thiruvananthapuram, and G. Adhithyaa of Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Thiruvananthapuram, stood second.

Ashwin Kalarikkal Sekharan of Christ Vidyanikethan, Irinjalakuda, Maria P. James and Anjana Babu of St. Patrick’s Academy, Angamaly, and Fabi Rasheed of Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Thiruvananthapuram, stood third.

Students from Kerala excelled in the examinations by registering combined pass percentage higher than the national average.

The pass percentage secured by CISCE-affiliated schools in the State were 99.93 for ICSE and 99.68 for ISC, significantly higher than the corresponding national average of 98.53 and 96.47.

While 7,269 students (3,749 girls and 3,520 boys) from 149 schools appeared for the ICSE examinations, as many as 2,174 students (1,095 girls and 1,079 boys) from 56 schools appeared for the ISC examinations.

According to statistics issued by the CISCE, girls fared better than boys in both levels with the former securing 100 per cent pass in the ICSE examinations.
