Kannur University Registrar Balachandran Keezhoth was placed under suspension by the Kannur University Syndicate on Thursday.

University sources said that the decision to suspend the Mr. Keezhoth was taken at a meeting he was attending as the secretary of the Syndicate, which was constituted after the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government came to power.

The Registrar was placed under suspension on the charge of not taking action against striking university employees of the pro-Congress union, who had protested outside the office of Vice Chancellor Gopinath Ravindran.

Dr. Keezhoth was appointed Registrar during the tenure of the previous United Democratic Front government.

‘Vendetta politics’

In a statement, district Congress committee (DCC) president Satheeshan Pacheni said that the suspension of Dr. Keezhoth was a testimony to the cheap vendetta politics of the LDF government.
