Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) secretary E.T. Mohammed Basheer, MP, said here on Wednesday that the Supreme Court’s observation on reservation in higher education was against the essence of the Constitution.

He said the Supreme Court’s observation on reservation would be misused, especially as the Central government was against reservation. “The court should uphold and protect the Constitution and it should not cross the Laxman Rekha,” he said.Mr. Basheer said that courts should focus on interpreting the laws. “Their job is not making laws or observations,” he said.
