The International Police Organisation aka Interpol has handed over a couple from Mylapra near here, Leslie Daniel and Santhan Susan Leslie, to the Kerala police.
The accused were arrested from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in connection with a series of long-pending cheating cases registered against them at various courts in Pathanamthitta.
According to the police, the Pathanamthitta DySP, K.A. Vidyadharan, and Circle Inspector of Police, Udayamma, brought the two accused to Kerala from New Delhi in the evening.
₹15 crore swindled
The first accused, Leslie Daniel, has been facing charges of cheating several persons from whom he had mobilised ₹15 crore, allegedly promising them huge returns from the share market, 10 years ago.
The courts, including the Kerala High Court, had issued non-bailable arrest warrants against the accused on more than one occasion earlier, but to no avail.
Meanwhile, Gloriamma Daniel, mother of Leslie and third accused in the case, was arrested by the Immigration Officer at Mumbai Airport on March 6, 2014 on the basis of a look-out notice issued by the police earlier.
The arrest of the couple by the Interpol from Ajman in the UAE was following a ‘Red Corner’ notice issued against them by the Kerala High Court. The accused will be produced before the Pathanamthitta Court on Tuesday, the police said.
