Cadets from the 1st (Kerala) remount and veterinary squadron of the National Cadets Corps (NCC) put up a spectacular show of proficiency on horseback at the Naval Base here on Wednesday.

They did show jumping and tent pegging to mark the conclusion of a five-day horseback expedition undertaken between Thrissur and Ernakulam.

20 cadets

Some 20 cadets took part in the expedition on eight horses.

The cavalry covered a distance of 92 km.

At each place of halt, the team performed show jumping and other acrobatics for the local population.

‘The purpose of the expedition was to inculcate the spirit of adventure and spread the message of ‘Swachh Bharat’ among the youth,” said a defence release.
