The Kerala High Court on Thursday reserved its verdict on an appeal filed by some candidates advised by the Public Service Commission (PSC) for the post of conductors.
The court had ordered retrenchment of certain group of empanelled conducts and appointment of the PSC-advised candidates in the post when the appeal came up for hearing. When the case was taken up for hearing, the court wondered whether temporary employees were allowed to continue for 10 and 14 years in any corporations except for the KSRTC.
Meanwhile, the PSC submitted that as far as the KSRTC was concerned, all direct recruitments except for the posts of MD and finance officers had to be made from the PSC list.
Employment Exchange hands could be appointed only for a period of 180 days. If their services were to be used beyond that period, a certificate from the Employment Exchange needs to be obtained. The certificate should specify that no eligible candidates were available in the employment exchange list. No temporary hands could continue in service in a post that was reported to the PSC.
