A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Thursday allowed burial of the body of a 93-year-old woman belonging to the Orthodox faction at the cemetery of St. Mary’s Syrian Church, Piravom on July 21.

The Bench comprising Justice A.M. Shaffique and Justice N. Anilkumar ordered the police to ensure that law and order was maintained and see that no untoward incidents take place on the church premises during the burial and religious services.

The court ordered that the burial and obsequies be conducted between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m on July 21.

The order was passed on a petition filed by an Orthodox faction member M.P. Babu.

When the petition came up for hearing, counsel for the Jacobite faction submitted that it did not oppose the plea of the petitioner.
